Current Data Status Table

This table shows the current status of any given structure based on key attributes. The team at ATS has developed a clever algorithm that automates this process.

Current StatusDescriptionNext Steps
0 – Not assessedGenerated from desk-top – not verifiedField assessment
0.1 – Crossing with no structureSite visited – no structure present – no barrierSaved for future reference
1 – Structure present but not currently a barrierAll fish passage at most flows. Can also be tidal. Can include single span bridgesMonitored
1.1 – Probably not a barrierOn-site call by field tech. Usually determined as not a barrier.Monitored
1.2 – Unlikely barrierBased on location e.g.  within drainage schemes where culverts are flooded or dry.Field assessment
1.3 – Bridge – Single span bridges cannot be confirmed until site visitNot a barrierSaved for future reference
2 – Fish passage remediation fitted
(all species)
Ramp, baffles rope or otherMonitored
3 – Fish passage remediation fitted
(climbing/jumping species only)
Ramp, baffles rope or otherMonitored
4 – Perched/overhungPerched outlet, apron, flume or otherRemediation at outlet
4.1 – Perched but no velocity/bed infoOlder apps or data incompleteRemediation at outlet – be prepared   to treat for velocity
5 – VelocityUsually no bed materialRemediation
5.1 – Velocity but no perch infoOlder apps or data incompleteRemediation – be prepared to treat   outlet
6 – Perched & VelocityBoth perched and velocity barrier  Remediation
7 – PhysicalBlocked. Only allowing water to seep.
Also tide-gates & pumps
Remediation and/or maintenance
8 – Requires further investigationLimited data. Difficult access or permission requiredRequires further investigation to   obtain more information
9 – Natural FeatureWaterfalls, cascades etc “Usually picked up during stream walk”None
10 – Dry and/or no upstream aquatic habitatDry gullies etc Low priority fix if fixed at allNone
10.1 – Road runoffE.g., Cross drainsNone
11 – Structure requires maintenanceDysfunctional/damaged structures
Scores 4 or 5 in Status Condition.
Needs maintenance before remediation
11.1 – Fish Passage requires maintenance/upgradeFrom monitoring surveyMaintain or upgrade
